Reviving a Legacy of Excellence

The 2024 Jeunes Chefs Competition, held in Johannesburg and Cape Town, marked the first competition since 2019, re-establishing South Africa’s presence on the global culinary stage. This revival was made possible through the dedication of Craig Cormack, the Gauteng and Cape Town Bailliages, and our valued sponsors. Under the leadership of Bailli Délégué Llewellyn Buckley-Marais, this event ushered in a new era of transparency, mentorship, and excellence—laying the foundation for the competition’s growth and future success.

Meet Our 2024 Regional Winners

This year, we were privileged to have 13 outstanding competitors, from which our top five have advanced to the National Finals on 9 May 2025 in Cape Town:

  • Amahle Sosiba
  • Sheldon Wolfe
  • Caeleb Naidoo
  • Juan Fourie
  • Elizabeth Ncube

Additionally, we are thrilled to sponsor Melanie Cunningham from Durban as an observer at the national competition. While not yet eligible for international competition, her outstanding performance has earned her a well-deserved place for future participation.

A Celebration of Culinary Talent & Mentorship

To all our competitors, we extend our heartfelt congratulations. Whether or not you walk away with a trophy, your passion, dedication, and creativity are truly inspiring. You represent the future of gastronomy, embodying the innovation and excellence that define the Chaine des Rotisseurs.

This competition is more than a test of skill—it is a commitment to mentorship, growth, and the continuous evolution of the culinary arts. With the generous support of our esteemed sponsors—Macadamia South Africa (SaMAC), DeLonghi Kenwood SA, Bidfood South Africa, and Global Knives—we are creating opportunities for young chefs to thrive.
